About E-HELP

The project E-HELP (Education, Health, Environment, Livelihood and Peace) is Cebu Normal University’s social commitment and responsibility in empowering communities. It is an integrated community extension program which brings about the university and its resources to the people and the community.

This project is anchored by the university’s vision as a values-driven institution for human transformation. Thus, a holistic approach is utilized, looking through the fundamental dimensions of human existence and community development. The interplay of education, health, environment, livelihood and peace is deemed essential in the pursuit of development, which is generally defined as the improvement of people’s lifestyle. But this development can only be achieved through empowerment and partnerships.

Education being the flagship program of the university extends beyond the four walls of the classroom towards the borderless community. Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to respond to the community through Education, Health, Livelihood and Peace (E-HELP) program are the advocacy of the university. All curricular programs are intertwined in order to make school and community linkage more productive.

The College of Teacher Education as a linking arm of the CNU’s Extension Program commits to the thrust of the university in the promotion of extension services and the social responsibility of forging partnership with local, regional and national organizations and institutions in order to enhance productivity, generate employment, reduce poverty and enhance self-reliance and self - sufficiency among the populace of the identified barangays.

All the extension projects of the college are anchored on the university’s values-driven mission for human transformation. The College of Teacher Education is committed to develop competent teachers who are productive agents of change imbued with a high sense of desirable values which can equip them to become responsive to the needs of the country and the community. In consonance with the Millennium Development Goals, the College of Teacher Education serves as the arm to “eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, achieve universal primary education and women empowerment”. Thus, the interplay of Education, Health, Environment, Livelihood and Peace along with the synergistic efforts of the other colleges shall gradually transform and empower Barangay Caputatan, Medellin, Cebu and Barangay Nangka, Balamban, Cebu.
