Union Pacific Golden Gate Special

From December 1888 to May 1889, Union Pacific ran an all-Pullman, extra fare, deluxe limited between Omaha Nebraska and San Francisco, named The Golden Gate Special. The one-way fare was $100 in 1888. It was soon discontinued and replaced with the Overland Limited; but for the short time it was in service, The Golden Gate set the standard for luxury travel. Names of the cars are authentic names from the original train. The cars are enameled in Sunset Yellow with Orange roofs, and carry some of the earliest Union Pacific heralds, from a time before UP adopted the well-known shield herald.
