Hand Made in America for the Standard Gauge Tinplate Train Operator

Classic Model Trains, LLC is proud to continue the tradition of Modern Era Standard Gauge trains that are hand-made in basements, garages and back yards by small entrepreneurs like us. They are made in very small quantities and limited editions. And they offer something different from the mass-produced products: our trains are their own unique designs, they are not imitations or reproductions of anything. And of course, they are 100% made in America, manufactured and assembled here in the hills of Vermont, USA.

Classic Model Trains, LLC is a two-man operation run out of my home garage shop. The cars are built by hand, one at a time, so there are small variations and they should not be expected to be completely uniform. Many of the parts we use to build the trains are NOS CMC/CMT parts from the 1970's, and they often have some corrosion or look old, because they are. There may be visible imperfections in the spot welds, painting and dealing. We take pride in our work and are always striving to improve, but given the limited resources and facilities available to us, we are far from perfect and our trains will not be the same as those made overseas on multi-million dollar assembly lines.

CMT, LLC makes tinplate toy trains that are intended to be enjoyed by running them on your home layout. They are sturdily built of heavy gauge steel, brass, and aluminum, and are brightly decorated with durable finishes in the tinplate tradition. They will give many years of enjoyment as they acquire the dings and nicks and other signs of "play wear" that we treasure in the similar tinplate toy trains from the 1920's and 1930's.
