UNESCO is a specialized agency of the United Nations
Its declared purpose is to contribute to peace and security by promoting international collaboration through educational, scientific and cultural reforms in order to increase the universal respect for justice, the rule of law, and human rights along with the fundamental freedoms proclaimed in the United Nations Charter.
It was founded on 1945, November 16th.
Now UNESCO counts 195 member states and 9 associate members.
The UNESCO headquarters are located in Paris.
