The Convention has 5 Strategic Objectives, stated by the Budapest Declaration (2002) and increased by the New Zealand proposal (2007).

Such objectives are
Credibility
strengthen the Credibility of the WHL, as a representative and geographically balanced testimony of cultural and natural properties of outstanding universal value
Conservation
ensure the effective Conservation of World Heritage properties
Capacity-building (measures)
promote the development of effective Capacity-building measures, including assistance for preparing the nomination of properties to the World Heritage List, for the understanding and implementation of the World Heritage Convention and related instruments
Communication
increase public awareness, involvement and support for World Heritage through communication
Communities
recognize the role of communities, “all forms of non-State actors” (groups of citizens, tribes…)
Get organized in 5 groups

Find examples of problems and actions that should be taken to endorse your objective
Report to the rest of the class - 2 minutes each
