Theorist Connections
Noddings focused on the care theory for motivating and engaging students. She believed that all children are capable of learning they just need to be supported and cared for. I agree with this theory and believe that every student deserves to have someone who supports them and is their number one fan no matter what.
Tomlinson believed that in order for students to learn their needs have to be met in the classroom. She believed that students have five different needs; affirmation, contribution, purpose, power, and challenge. I agree that all students learn differently and have different strengths. However, in order for all students to be successful their needs have to be met and addressed in the classroom environment.
Gardner believed in the different types of intelligences. They were classified as, verbal, logical, visual, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. I believe that all students have strengths and interests that can guide their learning and development. It is our job as teachers to know our students and their learning styles in order to create a motivating and supportive classroom environment.
