Classroom Strategies
The classroom strategies displayed in the concept map above will benefit all types of learners. Creating a supportive classroom environment that focuses on every learning style is a must in my future classroom environment! All students should be able to positively and respectfully interact with their peers. As a teacher I will try my best to create lessons that are relatable and connect to what is going on in my students lives. It is also so important for students to create goals for themselves and work towards reaching them throughout the school year.
The lesson displayed above was written for a 1st grade classroom. The theme of the lesson was geometric shapes and the goal is for students to be able to identify 2D shapes and different characteristics that they have. This lesson is very interactive and the shapes that the content is based off of are consistently seen in the students everyday lives. I think this lesson is a great representation of how different types of learners can focus on the same content but engage in different activities to learn in different ways. As teachers it is so important to connect with every student and their learning styles in the classroom in order for progress and development to occur. Instructional strategies are so important to use throughout lessons in order to track progress and promote student cooperation. The materials and resources used throughout the lesson are beneficial for all types of learners but can be modified if needed! For a school community that has limited resources, instead of using worksheets and specific materials or pictures, the teacher can use geometric shapes that are displayed around the classroom. Using materials already in the classroom, that students interact with everyday, can help make a connection.
