One of my goals for my future class is to have open and honest communication with all of my students as well as their parents/ guardians. I think it is so important for parents and students to feel supported and for all of us to work as a team. Making it a point to update parents on their child's progress and sending positive messages is a great way to build the parent-student bond as well as motivating the student to do well in the classroom. If students know that they will get praise and their parents will know of they do a good job or achieve something positive it will motivate them to continue with those behaviors both inside and outside of the classroom.
Sending out a weekly newsletter is a great way to promote communication. The newsletter will update parents on what their child will be doing each week and will include exciting news or upcoming events to look forward too. Along with the newsletter I will send out information regarding parent volunteers or helpers that are able to come into the classroom during class parties, fun Friday's, etc. Allowing parents the opportunity to come into the classroom to see their child is a great way to promote communication and engagement. The weekly newsletter will be sent out in a variety of different languages in order to allow every parent/ guardian to know what is going on in the classroom. In the beginning of the year I will have parents fill out a document that includes the language that they are most comfortable with and I will modify my letters as needed.

Rationale:
I will be sure to have open and honest communication with all parents/ guardians of students in my future classroom. I will provide them with my phone number and email at the beginning of the school year and encourage them to reach out with any questions or concerns. I will also allow parents/ guardians to make meetings on zoom or in person if they have serious concerns that they need to address with me before conferences take place. Allowing parents/ guardians to contact me via email, phone, and meetings allows for versatility and flexibility within their schedules. I think relationships between parents/ guardians, students, and teachers is so important. I want to make sure that all of the students in my classroom as well as their parents/ guardians feel safe and supported when they are inside and outside of my classroom.
