Social Justice
"Justice in terms of the distribution of wealth, opportunities, and privileges within a society"
Most privileged parts of Milwaukee actually outside of city limits
Distribution of resources extremely unequal in greater Milwaukee area
Extreme stratification denies people the opportunity to move out of poverty
Inequality inexorably linked to race
Application of social justice at different project sites:
Guest House and Pathfinders: Equality of Privilege
Guest House provides housing, education and shelter to people who face homelessness in Milwaukee
Pathfinders provides similar services specifically for at-risk youth
Also provided private storage space for at-risk youth on a first-come-first-serve basis
Provision of such services allows at-risk people the opportunity to strengthen themselves and lead productive lives
In the case of children, finish their education
In the case of adults, find employment
Gives people in need the dignity of fresh food and warm shelter
Provides, in a sense, an equality of dignity - a place to call home, with a regular address and contact information

Repairers of the Breach: Equality of Opportunity
The only daytime shelter for people who are homeless in Milwaukee
In addition to providing daytime shelter space, also offers:
Free medical clinic
Food and winter warming room
Learning center, offering citizenship and GED classes
Clothes bank
Also provides oft-overlooked services such as internet access, community services, and a place to store personal art
Gives people the opportunity to live, grow, and survive

Rebuilding Together of Greater Milwaukee: Equality of Wealth
Offers reconstruction, and repairs to low-income homeowners in Milwaukee
Helps people live in safe homes and increase the value of their dwellings
Particularly important when homeownership is a historically promoted way to accumulate and protect wealth in the US
Helps redistribute wealth to underprivileged neighborhoods in one of the most segregated and stratified cities in the country
Biggest project is Block Build MKE, an annual event where an entire city block is worked on over the course of a weekend
