Housing & Economic Disparity

As a group we learned about :

The potential positive and negative impacts that local, state and national policies can have on those living in a community.
What we can do to influence policies within our own communities at a local, state and national level.
How working as a team, we are able to accomplish a variety of tasks efficiently and effectively.
The importance of communication, being open-minded and receptive to other people's thoughts and ideas. In turn creating solutions to various problems/scenarios that we may not have thought of on our own.

Through our service, we have had the opportunity to practice, test, and apply our knowledge and skills that we have developed both within and outside our fields of study to address the specific social problem of housing & economic disparity.

How will we apply this in the future?

As a group, our individual characteristics and fields of study will allow us to holistically approach different circumstances and social issues in life that require action.
By applying our knowledge and experiences from this service trip, the importance of our core values strengthen us to become the active citizens in our communities and the different places we will be interacting with in years to come.
The Social Change Model highlights the fact that everyone and anyone can contribute to becoming the change in the world. It works better when diverse groups in a community communicate and work towards a common good.
