A sting is where sting trained officers within CID will setup a civilian who is attempting to purchase weapons and drugs or any illegal items. For example, if a CID member overhears a conversation where a gang member admits to purchasing drugs and will gain their number to setup a sting.
NOTE: Entrapment is not allowed in anyway. You set them up if you overhear or they come to you, you do not entrap them.
Example of a Sting and rules
On the left you can see an example of what a sting can look like whilst attempting a sting on a suspect you must follow a very strict set of rules which include:
A 2:1 ratio at all times
No messing about
You must not entrap the civilian.
Do not attempt to interrogate the suspect once in custody, bring them to cells and question them only.
Gang Stings
A Gang Sting is an undercover operation that should ultimately lead to the arrest of an individual or individuals involved with organised crime. There should be a set of criteria met before going out on Gang Stings:
Gang stings should be approved by TRIDENT Command and have as much notice as possible
TRIDENT should have as much notice as possible
It should be clearly defined beforehand as to what the plan is
It should be clearly defined where the gang is being met
It should be clearly defined what clothing is going to be worn, including requesting approval for the outfit beforehand
It should be clearly defined what a fake gang will be called beforehand
You should be the champion of this and ensure that the criteria are met and this is planned accordingly, as well as the relevant people being made aware
Once in custody, attempt to contact a member of TRIDENT to interrogate/interview suspects, if none are around, question them and sentence as normal.
