CID stands for Criminal Investigations Department with a focus on gathering intelligence which can then be used to create warrants and operations feeding directly into TRIDENT operations. CID is a sub-division within TRIDENT in the Metropolitan Police Service known for undercover operations, intel gathering and performing stings capturing criminals in the act.
CID Detective Sergeant+ can perform stings on civilians committing crime to question them, gather intelligence and stop crime. CID Detective Constables can assist with stings.
CID gather intelligence on criminals within the city, stacking up with evidence leading to arrests of known gang members. IGD Trained officers are authorised to interview individuals whereas Advanced IGD Trained officers are able to interrogate and question whilst offering reductions in time in prison etc.
As a CID member, you are able to become drone trained which will enable you to gather more information when outside of building using the night vision mode or the thermals attached to the drone. You will need to be trained for a drone by an NPAS Flight Instructor+.
In order to join CID, you must go through the CID Onboarding Process. Once this process is complete in full, you will become a CID Detective Constable.
Eligibility Requirements for CID:
Minimum Rank: Sergeant
Minimum Policing Hours: 150+
