I joined the Department of Economics at the University of the Western Cape in January 2017. In the first semester, I was expected to teach and coordinate the second year Macroeconomics course (ECO232) and teach a group of the first-year course, Principles of Economics (ECO133). After many discussions, I was asked to coordinate and teach the third year International trade course as well (ECO335).
In 2018, I was also tasked with teaching Mathematical Economics (ECO739) for the postgraduate students. During these two semesters, I also taught ECO232 and ECO335.
In 2019, I taught ECO152 and ECO 739.
In 2020, I again taught the ECO739, ECO335 modules and introduced a new Economic History course, ECO740. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, I taught these courses online. This included the preparation of materials and videos to guide students through the content.
In 2021, I was involved with ECO739, ECO151 and ECO740.
Currently, I am teaching ECO739 and in the second semester will again be responsible for ECO740 which will take place in block teaching form. This means one term's elective course for the Honours students will be ECO740 and the second term the elective course will be ECO736 - Development Economics. This will be an experiment to offer a research term to the staff involved.
