Hi, I’m Samuel, the President of the Chess Club at UCR. I’m a fourth-year Biochemistry major and have been playing chess since elementary school, though my real appreciation for the game began in high school.

I love the strategic and competitive aspects of chess. My favorite openings include the Catalan with White, while with Black, I prefer an aggressive counterattacking approach—usually the Sicilian or Nimzo-Indian. My go-to time controls are 3|0 blitz and 10|0 rapid.
