Unity Day: Digging Deeper!
“Our Lives Begin to end on the day we become silent about the things that matter.” –
That we human beings need “to practice a dangerous kind of selflessness.”
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
Thank you to everyone who attended Unity Day 2022. It was so important to reflect the spirit and dream of Dr. King by formulating plans to improve the education experience for ALL! You all generated thought-provoking insights, and were so open and honest about all the sensitive topics we touched upon.
Thank you so much to our phenomenal guest speakers, Kyra Holiday, MPsy & Melissa Holiday, MS Ed. Thank you also to Mrs. Joseph for speaking so eloquently about Dr. King, and leading an insightful question/answer session at night.
Our teachers and guidance counselors have been very overwhelmed this school year. They have had a lot of pressure, and have felt VERY unappreciated. We decided to give them a “holiday gift” of KINDNESS. Students wrote letters to teachers/guidance counselors at Cherry Hill High School East to tell them how important they are to them.
The letters were placed in the teacher mailboxes on Monday morning (Jan 10th),
giving them something nice with which to start their New Year and their Monday morning.
On MONDAY, DECEMBER 27th from 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm, we helped to sort and box up clothing donations in Medford, NJ for the JFCS
In November and December, we met in the Cafeteria after school with our notecards, colored pencils, crayons & stencils. Students worked alone or in groups, and the only rules were to...
BE CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN!
Started by NJ student Jordan Grabelle of Voorhees. The purpose of the project is to equip families in need with handmade literacy kits to make teaching the letters of the alphabet easy and fun! Love Letters sets out to change the fact that lower-income children may know only 1 or 2 letters of the alphabet when entering kindergarten, compared to middle class children who know all 26!
Each Love Letters for Literacy Kit should have:
All 26 Letters of the Alphabet (on individual notecards)
Handwritten Letter (see template for what to write)
Printed Directions for Games (in English and Spanish)
PUT ALL OF THE ABOVE IN A ZIPLOC BAG
PRINT THIS FOR YOUR LOVE LETTERS KIT
WRITE A LETTER FOR YOUR KIT, USING THIS TEMPLATE

This year's Chocolate Bar Fundraiser was in honor of Jaclyn Ehrlich (Class of 2020) for the National Sarcoma Foundation. Jaclyn was a HUGE fan and supporter of our Interact Club Chocolate Bar Sale every year.
This was written by her family:
Jaclyn was a 16 year old high school junior playing varsity soccer, serving as VP of student government and looking forward to her junior prom when her world, and ours, changed when she was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma. Jaclyn fought bravely for 2 and 1/2 years, and while enduring treatments, chemotherapy, surgery, more chemotherapy, more surgery, experimental clinical trials, and radiation she refused to stop living her life the way she wanted to. She attended her junior prom. She endured her treatment and earned a 4.0 GPA her senior year of high school. From her hospital bed she coordinated summer soccer practice and with a boot attended as many practices and games as possible earning her the most courageous athlete award. Still, while enduring chemo treatment she attended her freshman year of college at UCF and earned a 3.8 GPA, joined AEPhi sorority and got involved in Knight-Thon and philanthropy events. Unfortunately Jaclyn’s battle ended August 8, 2021, when she could not fight any longer. She is an example of living every minute to its absolute fullest and is a true inspiration to everyone who knew her. She was taken from us to soon and will be forever missed. Please help us honor her by supporting research to end this awful disease.
Interact Club worked together to decorate the sidewalks of East with positivity to brighten up the 1st Monday of the school year
We were able to help our CH Rotary Club in the

We joined forces with Miracle League to help fundraise for “Build Jake’s Place” (the awesome local park where we planted flowers in the Spring of 2021!).
