Three Cherry Hill East students from the Class of 2017 attended RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) in the Summer of 2016. Ms. Barr was a counselor there, and was about to start her job as Secretary of Activities at Cherry Hill HS East. The students approached Ms. Barr and asked if she would be their Advisor if they started an Interact Club at East. Ms. Barr asked the Cherry Hill Rotary Club to be the sponsor, and they were just as thrilled as she was to begin this exciting adventure.

*President - FOR RISING JUNIORS & SENIORS ONLY. Must attend most Interact events and make Interact Club one of your TOP priorities. Must be an outgoing leader with a positive energy. Your job is to represent the club and be a role model for club members. This is a job that if you see a student sitting alone, you make an effort to include them and make them feel welcome. It is also important that you are extremely reliable.
*Vice President – Must attend most Interact events and make Interact Club one of your TOP priorities. If the President can’t attend an event, you should be there, and be able to take their place. You should exemplify the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self,” and jump in to help whenever and wherever you are needed. You and the President should be discussing possible new ideas for the club. It is important that you are extremely reliable.
*Publicist(s) - Are you good at getting messages out to everyone? Are you good with Instagram? Do you have a Canva account? Our Publicist and Artistic Director will work together to get as many attendees at our events as possible. It is your job to spread the word all over social media, inside of school, and outside of school about our various events and fundraisers. Get people involved...get people excited!
*Artistic Director(s) - If you are artistic, THIS is the job for you! We need someone who can be the leader for all of our artistic endeavors (door decorating contest, event posters and fliers, event signs, etc.). You should be creative and artistic, as well as neat and organized.
*Fundraising Chair - Our Fundraising Chair will be in charge of charity fundraisers and club fundraisers. We need someone who can sell a lot of chocolate bars for our big October Chocolate Bar Charity Fundraiser. You must be enthusiastic and able to motivate and encourage others to sell.
The biggest things I need from club officers are AVAILABILITY, PARTICIPATION and RELIABILITY. As an officer, you should be attending most of our club events, prioritizing Interact over other clubs, and you need to be self-motivated. I will also ask you to represent our club at various extra events. We have a board group chat, and occasionally have LB or after school Board meetings (but most decisions are made through the group chat) ~ Ms. Barr
