WHAT? Rotary CANstruction
WHEN? Saturday, June 27th
WHERE? Deptford Mall
WHAT? We worked with our sponsor, the Rotary Club of Cherry Hill, to build a CANstruction to fit the 2026 theme, "America 250" (designed by Rotarian, Dave Lummis)
*Canstruction is a nonprofit organization that hosts annual competitions, showcasing structures made entirely of cans of food.
ALL 2,500 cans that we use to build our Canstruction will be donated to the Food Bank of South Jersey
We used 2,500 cans to build Dave Lummis' design of Independence Hall this year (builds from previous years are on the right)

WHAT? Interact Club members got together after school for an end of the year pot-luck party to celebrate all of the amazing acts of service we have done this past school-year! Everyone brought something to eat and share.
ABC and C.H.E. Pen Pals
ABC and C.H.E. Pen Pals
Students will select ONE Kindergarten Pen Pal from Bret Harte Elementary School who they feel they have something in common with.
Once a Pen Pal is selected, use the template Ms. Barr gives you to write your letter
Use pencil/colored pencils/crayons (NO MARKER – it bleeds through the paper) – Keep your handwriting neat and your words SIMPLE and make it colorful & fun!
1st completed letter will be due 2 weeks after Pen Pals are all assigned
We are ALSO going to make sets of ALPHABET FLASHCARDS for each of the Kindergarteners. They can use these flashcards to practice their letters...ABC and C.H.E. is meant to be fun! -

WHAT? Interact Club members spent the afternoon at Lion's Gate Assisted Living, chatting and listening to music with the residents.

WHAT?: We helped with the Stockton School Fair by running games, helping kids with crafting, face-painting, nail polish, helping with the check in table (ticket sales/raffle tickets), giving out prizes, and so much more!

WHERE? Cooper River Park (N. Park Drive, Pennsauken, NJ)
WHAT? We cheered on participants at the start/finish line, helping create a really positive, welcoming environment. We also made posters to hold up at the event to cheer on the runners & walkers.

WHEN? Sunday, March 22nd, 2026 from 11am-2pm (3 hours)
WHERE? 5 Split Rock Drive, Cherry Hill, NJ (Camden County Council of Education Association Office)
WHAT? Interact Club members joined other students and families from Camden County to do different acts of Community Service at the various service stations (make blessing bags for the unhoused, make dog treats for local animal shelters, make PB&J sandwiches for those in need, create menstruation bags for women's shelters, etc.)

WHERE? Lion's Gate (Voorhees, NJ - Healthcare - its' the 1st left off of Laurel Oak. #1100)
WHAT? Interact Club members spent the afternoon at Lion's Gate Assisted Living. From sweet introductions to a little friendly Bingo competition and even a mini music concert, it was an afternoon full of smiles, laughter and meaningful connections.

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS DAY - FEBRUARY 17th
We met during LBs and after school to design smiley faces with messages and images of love and kindness
to hang around the school in honor of Valentine's Day & RAK Day ("Cougar Compliments").
We met on the following dates:

WHERE? JF Cooper Elementary School (1960 Greentree Rd, Cherry Hill)
WHAT? Interact Club members helped the elementary school students at the various math and reading activity station in the APR.

WHAT? MLK Day of Service
WHEN? Monday, January 19th from 9:45am-11:30am
WHERE? Congregation BETH EL 8000 Main Street, Voorhees, NJ (*this is right by the corner of KRESSON & EVESHAM)
WHAT? Various community service activities like making MLK quilt squares, making challah covers for residents at Lion's Gate, putting together Period Packs for women's shelters and making chemo activity packets for Virtua patients.

WHEN?: The boxes of chocolate arrived on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29th, and students sold 105 boxes to raise money for the AWA. We were able to donate $2,250.00 to the Voorhees Animal Welfare Association (AWA).
How it Works:
*Each box has 60 chocolate bars
(12 caramel, 12 crisp, 12 wafer, 12 almond,
6 milk & 6 dark)
*You purchase 1 full box for $60.00 from Ms. Barr
(via check made out to "CH East Interact" or cash)
*You sell the chocolate bars you purchased for $1.00 each and make your ($60.00) money back
*Let people know that the money you are making goes towards the Animal Welfare Association
*Each box you sell earns you 1 full community service hour
We will be donating our proceeds from our Chocolate Sales to the:
AWA is committed to saving the lives of animals who need it most and serving the community through low-cost veterinary services, behavioral training, community outreach programs and education.

WHAT?: Interact Club members eceived trash bags and gloves, and went all around the outside of the building to pick up trash.

They spent the night socializing and dancing with our amazing local senior citizens.
National Brain Tumor Society's Race for Hope

WHEN?: Saturday, October 11th, 2025
WHERE?: Cooper River Park (5300 N. Park Drive, Pennsauken, NJ) at the TRACK (by the playground)
WHAT?: Interact Club members will volunteer at the National Brain Tumor Society's Race for Hope Greater Philadelphia
Students volunteered from 6:30am-9:30am to help with Check-in/Bibs for runners and t-shirts for all who are registered, and we also had a 9am-11am group who cheered the walkers on, showed them which way to go, and handed out waters.

WHAT?: Interact Club members "chalked the walk" to welcome everyone back to school
Bring disposable gloves (only if you don't want to get your hands chalky), WATER (you will get thirsty if it's hot outside), and any extra sidewalk chalk you want to use (we have enough, but you are welcome to bring your own)
