Storyline 360 Barista Training Simulation
Step behind the counter in this interactive café scenario. Learners make choices about grind size, water temperature, pour technique, and customer care, then see how each decision shapes the final cup.
The Perfect Pour is a short Storyline scenario designed to help new baristas practice the small decisions that make a big difference in pour-over quality. I chose coffee because my first job was as a barista, and I still love the small rituals behind making a good cup.
Learners move through four realistic decision points with guidance from Maya, a mentor barista. Each choice leads to immediate feedback that connects technique, timing, and customer awareness to the final result.
KSAs targeted:
Knowledge: Identify how grind size, water temperature, and pour technique influence pour-over quality.
Skills: Select the appropriate brewing action based on scenario cues and mentor feedback.
Abilities: Apply brewing decisions consistently across realistic customer-service moments.
I used Articulate Storyline 360 to build the interactions, Canva and custom AI workflows for visual direction, Magnific to refine visuals and video moments, and Epidemic Sound to create a warm café atmosphere. I also created a full production guide and storyboard in Google Docs to plan the learner flow, feedback, visuals, and interaction logic before building.
Because this was a self-directed sample, I served as my own SME, drawing on my interest in coffee and pour-over technique to shape the scenario, feedback, and learner choices.
