January 31, 2024 - 2nd Anniversary Event 

The AWSD 2nd Anniversary Event 2024 took place at the CEGLOC building at the University of Tsukuba campus on Wednesday 31st January, 2024. The event was organized together with the JALT Tokyo Chapter and the JALT Ibaraki Chapter. The two-hour event boasted three presentations, informing attendees about the AWSD and providing accessible and practical writing ideas for both teachers and learners to use in academic writing.

The three presentations were:

• Naheen Madarbakus-Ring: Welcome to the AWSD!

• Lay Sion Ng: Tutor Tips

• Louise Ohashi: Using AI for Writing Development

This was our second anniversary event, which we hope to continue as an annual AWSD event. Following our online event in 2023, our second event was delivered using a hybrid mode. We welcomed around 25 delegates face-to-face and around 50 delegates who participated online via Zoom. We also provided pre-event and break-time opportunities for networking with refreshments and every attendee received a free notebook and stickers.
