JoAnna Reyes Walton
Keynote Speaker
JoAnna Reyes Walton is a PhD candidate in UCLA's Department of Art History who works on Viceregal Mexican and Chicanx Art. Her research explores the ties between silver mining and civic identity in eighteenth century Zacatecas. From 2016-2019, she served as the book review editor for Aztlán: A Journal of Chicano Studies and is an organizing member of Mothers of Color in Academia de UCLA. JoAnna has helped found multiple UCLA campus entities, including the Bruin Lactation Coalition and the Students with Dependents Taskforce, and was appointed as a charter member of the UCOP’s first ever taskforce to address parenting student needs. JoAnna has previously worked as a research assistant and curatorial assistant in the Latin American Art department at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and as a research associate at the Hispanic Society Museum and Library.
