About Jeff Mills

Jeff Mills recently retired from his position as Community Engagement Director at Carebridge Community Support, based in Almonte, ON. Carebridge helps support seniors, persons with intellectual disabilities, and families of limited means. During his career he worked on a variety of community based projects including, building affordable housing, starting the Neighbourhood Tomato Community Gardens project and its downtown Almonte community oven, the redevelopment of Almonte's Augusta Street Park and its ongoing 5 Wednesdays in July free summer music series, Lanark county-wide Vial of Life and Get a Grip assisted devices projects, and others. Jeff continues to manage the Mississippi Mills Triobike program. 

Jeff has been awarded the Mississippi Mills Cultural Volunteer Award, Mississippi Mills Community Builder Award and two Queen's Jubilee Awards.

He is a long time self-supported international cycle tourer and local cycle advocate. He is the founder of Mississippi Mills Bicycle Month (2008), former chair of the Mississippi Mills Active Transportation Advisory Committee, helped spearhead Mississippi Mills successful efforts, as the first rural community in Ontario, to be granted Share the Road, & "Bicycle-Friendly Community" Status, and was founder of the Eastern Ontario Active Transportation Summit that ran for half a dozen years before the pandemic. He continues to work with friend and fellow advocate, Chris George, on the Mississippi Ottawa Rivers Experience Trail (Ride MORE!) a family friendly 180K cycle tourism loop trail that connects the city of Ottawa with Lanark County using existing rail trails and quiet backroads.
