Cashing In On Cycle Tourism 2.0
Cashing In On Cycle Tourism 2.0
After the successful "Cashing in on Cycle Tourism" conference in September 2023, several initiatives emerged from that meeting, as well as a shared spirit that cyclists visiting the Ottawa Valley were a growing tourism sector. And the towns along the Algonquin Trail could benefit from this growth.
On October 17, 2025, a 2.0 version of the conference was held in Almonte, Ontario. This event aimed to attract more businesses to the cycle tourism discussion. Presenters came from Orillia (Simcoe Loop Trail), Toronto (Trends in Cycle Tourism), Pembroke (Ottawa Valley Tourist Association), Cartwright Springs Brewery and more. New initiatives such as the Eastern Ontario Rail Trail and the new Lanark County Cycling Map were also discussed. Participants came from Ottawa, Lanark, Frontenac and Renfrew Counties and ranged from mayors and elected officials to tourism businesses and municipal staff. One session examined tourism wins, and the final session of the day looked at how to make Lanark, Renfrew and Frontenac Counties the premier cycling destination.
This material is available for reference and shares participants' experiences, knowledge and excitement to build on a stronger cycling tourism economy.
