At the beginning of the school year, I read this book with all of my classes. It was a fun way to introduce myself to my students and get them excited about physical education. It connects to standard 6Q because it incorporates reading as well as oral communication to engage students in the content area. After doing this, I learned that literacy has a place in every content area, even physical education. My students enjoyed this activity which inspired me to try to incorporate more cross-curricular lessons in the future.
Works with other teachers and support personnel to design, adjust, and modify instruction to meet students’ reading, writing, and oral communication needs.
Each month teachers were required to attend divison meetings. At these meetings, all staff (homeroom teachers, administration) that work with the same grades gather together to talk about important topics. These topics may include upcoming events, specific student issues, professional development opportunities, etc. This artifact connects to standard 6R because this monthly meeting allows teachers the time to meet and collaborate about ways to provide our students with the best educational experience possible. I've learned that teacher's schedules are extremely tight and it is often hard to fit in time to connect with colleagues. Therefore, scheduling this type of meeting every month is benefical for both teachers and students.
