Mandated Reporter training aligns with standard 9R because it certifies that people in professions working with children such as educators, doctors, therapists, etc have been made aware of the provisions of Section 4 of the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act. Being a mandated reporter means that you must make a report to DCFS if you have probable cause to believe that a child is being abused or neglected. The training informs you about the signs of abuse and neglect and what your role as a mandated reporter is. After completing this training, I have learned how and when a report should be made.
Understands emergency response procedures as required under the School Safety Drill Act, including school safety and crisis intervention protocol, initial response actions, and first response to medical emergencies.
First Aid and CPR/AED certfications align with standard 9C because it is proof that I have learned about and been certified in first response policies and procedures. It is important to have this certification as a physical education teacher and coach because I am working with students who are being physically active every day. Medical emergencies may arise under the circumstances that I work in everyday, so being certified in first response procedures is crucial. Through first aid and CPR/AED training, I have learned how to handle situtations in which students are suffering from a cardiac event or other medical emergencies that require first aid care. This has helped me grow as a professional because I can approach these stressful situations with a clear and calm mind due to the prepartion and training I have endured.
