Learn about insects, plants and our natural resources as you take projects related to: beekeeping, crops, entomology, floriculture, forestry, garden, geology, soil & water and wildlife.
Beekeeping
You will learn about the types of bees, the honey and wax they produce, the plants that attract bees, and the equipment a beekeeper needs. If you want to set up your own hive, you'll learn basic beehive care, how to extract and bottle honey. Advanced topics include: increasing the number of your honey bee colonies, increasing honey production, producing special kinds of honey, and learning more about bee societies.

Crops
The 4-H'er will learn about planting methods, growing practices, soil testing and maximizing yields and quality of their crops. The member will also learn to keep records of hours of labor, machine use and tractor operation.
You can learn about:
Alfalfa - Learn about growing alfalfa. Exhibit 1 slab of alfalfa.
Corn - Exhibit 3 healthy cornstalks. Wash roots and wrap roots in a clear plastic bag. Place all 3 stalks in a plastic bucket. Plus, add tags about something you learned.
Oats - Exhibit one gallon of oats in a clean clear glass jar.
Soybeans - Exhibit 10 live green plants. All plants are to be tied together. Place tied plant roots in a clear plastic bag to expose the roots.
Wheat - Exhibit one gallon of wheat (grains only) in a clean clear glass jar.
