Italian Aria Online Unit

I designed this lesson for use during my school's COVID-19 closure. It guides my students through the process of studying and performing an Italian aria from Schirmer's 24 Italian Songs and Arias anthology. Students may choose Gia il sole dal Gange by Pergolesi in the medium-high key or Tu lo sai by Torelli in the medium-low key. These two pieces will be the CMEA regional audition pieces in fall of 2021, so students' work can continue to serve them in the coming school year.

Each lesson contains interactive assessments I can easily collect for attendance and accountability purposes. Each lesson is aligned to the 2014 Core Arts Standards for high school performing ensembles. In the course of the unit, all four artistic processes are addressed.

I will teach this unit through Google Classroom, but it could be adapted to any platform.
