Through my years of recruiting I have learned that you have to win over the Momma's. This was one of the best things we have implemented here at Lake Placid High School. This is a great way for you to bridge the gap with your parents. These women participated in chalk talks, drills, and we offered them a fabulous dinner.
All monies collected for this event were donated to our local Women's Shelter. $900 total was raised and donated.
2nd Annual Future Dragons Camp has been an awesome experience for both the young campers as well as our players. Our players are the camp leaders through out the week and it provides them an opportunity to serve our community as well as build relationships with our young students in the community.
Service is a core principle of our program. I feel our community invests so much into our program from time, donations, and sponsorships. Showing our appreciation by being active and visible in our community is pivotal to building relationships as well as getting our community to buy into our program. Getting our kids to understand how important it is to be of service in our community and the way it fills your heart to help your neighbor is pivotal for their growth as young men.
The Green and White game was a great way to bridge the gap between faculty and student athletes. We had the opportunity to draft players and even had the opportunity to come to practice and call a few plays. Our teachers came away with a new found respect for our athletes and our coaches. We choose 4 teachers to be honorary coaches for the game. This was a great way to build excitement within our school and galvanize our faculty and student athletes.
I had the distinct pleasure of volunteering at the Hula Bowl in January of 2023. What a great expereicne it was to be around so many bright football minds, and to see those young men so close to their dream. Many of those guys went on to be drafted or sign free agent contracts.
