I look at school from a holistic point of view, what is the end game? Hopefully everyone says they would like to graduate high school and go on to do big things in their lives. Some athletes would like continue their careers in college. In order to do that you will have to meet NCAA requirements. Our goal in our program was to exceed the minimum requirement and we have a systematic approach to doing just that.
The average GPA for freshman prior to my arrival in 2019 was 1.67 which means the program lost 9 of its 14 freshman members. After my first year at LP our freshmen GPA was 2.47 and we did not lose 1 single freshman student athlete in our program. This was monumental for our program, and for our kids.
2021 We had 20 student achieve honor roll status the most in our tenure.
We offer study hall each day for our kids
Teachers are more than willing to stop by and help out, which helps build relationships outside the classroom.
We address missing assignments with our weekly grade sheet (have to turn in to play).
We monitor attendance and behavior weekly with our grade sheet.
After our 2019 season we lost 2 kids due to academic issues. We will continue to work to make sure we are at 100% attainment.
