Today we wrap up another action-packed term. I want to take some time to celebrate the growth, hard work, and energy our tamariki have brought to Carlton School over the last eleven weeks. From the classroom to the sports fields and the stage, it’s been awesome to watch our students shine.
The end of this term brings some staffing change, as we shuffle the deck in our teaching team. I want to extend a farewell and a massive thank you to our wonderful kaimahi Trudy Nation, Sarah Gray, Kylie Hector, and Steph Reardon. Your dedication, warmth, and passion have left a lasting impact on our tamariki and community, and you will all be missed. A special mention to Trudy who has been with Carlton for 17 years, working alongside 3 different principals.
Miss Trudy Nation
Miss Sarah Gray
Miss Kylie Hector
Mrs Steph Reardon
At the same time, we are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to our newest team members: Helen Rudduck, Zoë Williams, Linda Attwood, and Helen O'Leary. We are excited for the fresh energy and talents you bring, and we look forward to achieving great things together.
Helen O’Leary and Linda Attwood will be sharing the teaching role in He Puna Whanake, Zoë Williams in He Puna Tarei, and Helen Rudduck in He Puna Tutuki.
A huge congratulations to our Te Kapa o Puanga rōpū, who blew us all away last Wednesday, at the Puanga Kapa Haka Festival. Performing in front of a massive crowd at the Memorial Hall is no small feat, but our students stood tall, and performed with pride. Thank you Matua Robin Ohia and whānau who supported them in getting stage-ready. Here they are performing outside Te Whare o Rehua Sarjeant Gallery.
Thank you to everyone who attended our Learning Conversations last Monday and Tuesday. This korero is so valuable for us to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate their wins, and map out their next learning steps. Strong partnerships between home and school make all the difference.
Mid-year reports have now been published to the eTap @school app. These reports provide a clear picture of where your child is currently at with their learning. Please note that the Ministry’s new standards for achievement are significantly more demanding than in previous years. As a result, we are seeing a very diverse range of results across the board. If you have any questions or concerns about these new reporting standards or your child's report, please do not hesitate to contact their classroom teacher.
Looking ahead to Term 3, we have plenty of exciting learning and community events lined up. Enjoy the well-deserved winter break, stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for another fantastic term.
If you have any concerns or queries I can be contacted at 0278562962 or gjohnston@welearn.school.nz . Additionally, all our teachers can be contacted through their work emails, which are available on our school website..

Sportsmanship Cup 🏆
