Locally Adapted, Genetically Diverse Honey Bees
Capitol Bee CARE is dedicated to identifying, isolating, and propagating characteristics that make our honey bees especially well suited to thrive, overwinter and produce in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Nucleus Colonies of Locally Adapted Honey Bees
Weather depending, we project that our first run nucs (ordered before April 15) will be ready near mid-May. Second run nucs will be available in early June.
Our standard five frame nuc typically includes one mated and accepted queen, two frames with bees, brood, larvae, and eggs one honey frame, one pollen frame and a mixed frame for expansion. We use plastic foundation because it transports better and is easier for new beekeepers to handle.
You will be responsible for picking up the Nuc from a location in DC or check out our delivery & installations
