Some may say your first year at YAG is the most important, especially the first day of your first year. You learn all the in’s and out’s of The Capitol, you have to check your bill book at least 15 different times each day, and it’s overall pretty overstimulating to the average person. But getting to know people from all around the state and listening to real debate happen makes it all worth it in the end.
“The most exciting part so far was participating in things that I never thought I would do and getting to know the other delegates from other places”, says Victoria Lopez, a first-year lobbyist from the Everett delegation.
Lopez explains that “How to be a Lobbyist” was the most important thing she learned on her first day. We also asked our interviewee what she’s most looking forward to in the next few days, “Seeing what it all comes down to.” Lopez described.
Learning how to handle this new responsibility is a big job, but remember, always have fun! All in all, your first day of your first year is full of thrill. Excitement, nervousness, unfamiliarity, and much more to come. Enjoy the last few days Delegates!
