Welcome to the first series of videos of my walk along The Grand Union Canal, we begin in Birmingham at Salford junction which is situated underneath Spaghetti Junction, this is where the Grand Union begins or ends joining with The Birmingham and Fazeley Canal and the Tame Valley Canal. We head out of Birmingham and into the countryside in these episodes passing through Tyseley, Catherine De Barnes and Knowle. We make our way to the outskirts of Warwick finishing at the end of part 8 at Hatton Bottom Lock near Warwick Parkway Railway Station.
WALKING THE GRAND UNION CANAL (Part 1):
Part one of my walk along the Grand Union canal. Starting at Salford Junction underneath Birmingham's Spaghetti Junction where the canal meets with the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal and The Tame Valley Canal. Passing Star City along the way I make my way along the towpath to Bordesley Junction where we join a link to The Digbeth Branch Canal.
WALKING THE DIGBETH BRANCH CANAL:
A walk along the towpath of The Digbeth Branch Canal from Aston Junction where it meets the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal, and making my way to Typhoo basins, before a short walk along the Grand Union Canal link to Bordesley Junction where we begin Walking the Grand Union Part 2.
WALKING THE GRAND UNION CANAL (Part 2):
the second part of my walk along the main Grand Union canal. Starting at Bordesley where we finished in Part one and Walking The Digbeth Canal Video. I continue from Bordesley Junction and make my way to Small Heath finishing at Waverley Basins Bridge next to The Ackers site.
WALKING THE GRAND UNION CANAL (Part 3):
The third part of my walk along the towpath of The Grand Union Canal. Continuing from Waverley Basins Bridge, Ackers, Small Heath and making my way to Lode Lane Bridge (Bridge 81) near the Land Rover Plant (Solihull)
WALKING THE GRAND UNION CANAL (Part 4):
The fourth part of my walk along the towpath of The Grand Union Canal. Continuing from Lode Lane Bridge near Solihull and making my way to the village of Catherine De Barnes. This is the first part of the walk where the canal enters the open countryside. The end of the walk I make my way half way back following a public footpath which runs alongside the canal towpath back to Elmdon Heath.
WALKING THE GRAND UNION CANAL (Part 5):
I continue my walk along the towpath of The Grand Union Canal, beginning where we left off in part 4 at Catherine De Barnes and making my way to Knowle. Finishing this section of the walk at Kenilworth Road Bridge (71) before a quick visit to the village of Knowle.
WALKING THE GRAND UNION CANAL (Part 6):
I continue my walk along the towpath of The Grand Union Canal, beginning where we left off in part 5 at the Kenilworth Road Bridge (Bridge 71). In this video I make my way down the Knowle Locks and then notice the canal barges are a lot wider and so are the locks. Finishing this section of the walk at Kingswood Junction after a short walk along the Lapworth Link Canal to join the North Stratford canal.
WALKING THE GRAND UNION CANAL (Part 7):
Another section of the towpath of the Grand Union Canal walked, continuing my journey from Kingswood Junction where we finished in part 6, I make my way to Shrewley, passing over the top of the Shrewley Tunnel.
WALKING THE GRAND UNION CANAL (Part 8):
Another section of the towpath of the Grand Union Canal walked, continuing my journey from Shrewley, passing over the top of the Shrewley Tunnel, I continue to the Hatton Locks and make my way down finishing this section of the walk at Hatton Bottom Lock near Warwick Parkway Railway Station on the outskirts of Warwick.
