Camp LogJam camps take place at Camp Byng in Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast.
Camp LogJam will be based out of Haida Lodge. Haida Lodge includes a large common room, a smaller lounge, and a fully-equipped kitchen. Other rooms in Haida Lodge are reserved for use by the staff running Camp LogJam (Offers of Service).
Near Haida Lodge there are 12 sleeping hulls. The sleeping hulls are wood buildings with tarpaulin roofs. Each sleeping hull sleeps 6 people on beds. Sorry, you will need to bring your own sleeping pad as there are no mattresses available. If you go to the Camp Byng website www.campbyng.ca, one of the photographs on the home page includes sleeping hulls. Sleeping hulls may be shared by more than one family.
Participants at Camp LogJam 2025 have the option of bringing a tent to camp in for the family. Tent camping will be adjacent to the sleeping hulls.
Adjacent to the sleeping hulls is a washroom building (called a KYBO) with flush toilets, sinks and showers.
In addition to the Haida Lodge, we will be using the common areas of Camp Byng, including numerous trails, the beachfront, and the low challenge course. There is lots to see and do at Camp Byng.
When in other parts of Camp Byng, there are outhouses available for use when we are in those areas.
The camp will provide hand sanitizer at the eating tables and in the KYBOs (washroom buildings).
Each camper should have his or her own personal hand sanitizer - a good option is to have one that can clip onto clothing or on a lanyard.
You will need to provide an email address so that we can contact you with more information about Camp LogJam 2025.
Before camp, in May or early June, there will be Parents/Guardians Zoom meetings for all Camp LogJam 2025 participants. The email address provided above should be the email address that the Zoom meeting link will be sent to.
The meetings will be to:
Familiarize the Parents/Guardians with more details of the plans for the Camp LogJam 2025 program.
Advise the Parents/Guardians about things that they should bring to the Camp LogJam 2025 camp.
Familiarize the Parents/Guardians with camp policies regarding garbage disposal, green waste disposal, and recycling at camp, plus nature awareness and fire regulations, including smoking/vaping and mobile phone use.
Answer any questions that you might have.
If you have any questions or comments, you can always send us an email at camplogjam@telus.net.
