This semester-long course is an in-depth look into the practices and trends in the animal science industries, with focus on practices and careers related to animal science production.
After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate proper animal handling and welfare practices.
Explain the use of EPD’s and genetics in the industry.
Evaluate proper animal handling and describe best practices in handling systems.
Develop animal health, reproduction, and nutritional management plans for species.
Describe tools and products used in animal industries and demonstrate how to sell those items effectively.
Discuss issues facing the animal science industry
Explore the careers that are available in animal science.
Summarize the production methods related to the Beef, Dairy, Swine, Poultry, Sheep, Goat, and Equine industries
