Camas Valley Ag classes include Intro to Agriculture, Agricultural Biology, Animal Science, Forestry, Ag Business/Horticulture, and Leadership. FFA is considered an intracurricular, which means it is covered within the school curriculum nationwide. Students automatically qualify to become FFA members as soon as they enroll in an Ag class. At Camas Valley, we believe having an Ag Education is vital to success post-schooling. Understanding the basics of agriculture, including where our food comes from and animal biology, is incredibly important for young people becoming more independent and entering adulthood.
Students are expected to follow all school guidelines and conduct codes at all times in this class, as well as the following guidelines:
Come to class on time and prepared with all needed materials.
Complete all assigned activities.
Not talking when the teacher is talking.
Follow directions
Participate in class discussion.
Conduct themselves in a courteous and respectful manner.
Cell phone or music player use must be granted permission from the teacher.
Demonstrate proper care of lab equipment and supplies
Adhere to legal and ethical standards
The following are requirements for class that every student must complete:
Class notebook
Complete at least one agriculture science research experiment and report your results using acceptable format.
Grades will be earned with the following:
90%-100%=A; 80%-89%=B; 70%-79%=C; 60%-69%=D; < 59%=F
Points will be available in the following categories:
Assignments/Homework 30%
Labs/Projects 40%
Quizzes/Tests 20%
Participation 10%
Assignments will mostly take place in paper format and will be turned in to the appropriately labeled basket in Ms. Brown’s classroom. Occasionally, assignments may be digital, and turned in through an online source. Any missed assignments can be found in the “Missing Work” basket in the back of science classroom.
Cell phones are to be off and away during class time. If a student is found to have an unauthorized electronic device out during class time, the following consequences will be put in place:
1st offense: warning
2nd offense: phone taken and held by Ms. Brown for the period. Student can get phone back at the end of the period.
3rd offense: phone taken and sent to the office for student to pick up at the end of the day.
Any following offense: phone sent to the office for parents to pick up.
