Math is beyond just numbers, statistics, and patterns. It's the ability to interpret data, and how we can apply them to science and create real-world applications to predict, and find effective solutions to some of the world's most pressing problems and questions. We can interpret mathematical data to predict, for instance, disease to prevent the spread of deadly outbreaks. By exploring math, we're not only learning about numbers- we're learning about science, and how we can understand relationships in various different fields like physics, engineering, economics, and social sciences.
In a world dominated by technology, computational thinking is only getting better. Being able to analyze and visualize data is essential to gain a better understanding of these skills. Additionally, we're developing our personal skills and our personal abilities to cognitively think, solve problems, and critically think. If you're passionate about problem-solving and using critical thinking skills to make a difference, then the math program here at CSU is for you. Math is a fundamental tool used to understand and solve complex problems in various fields such as engineering, finance, and technology. At Calvin State University, our math courses are intended to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to tackle real-world challenges using mathematical concepts and techniques; this includes understanding and analyzing non-linear patterns. Through these courses, students can gain a deeper understanding of the language of numbers and how they're applied to the world. Additionally, students will also be taught how to logically and creatively apply different methods to solve an array of equations to challenge their creativity rather than limiting them to one method.

Here, our mathematical programs are closely connected to our science programs; this means that you are also dealing with data, and predictions, and seeing how they can be applied onto scientific data to better understanding our world and its connections to numbers.
Courses in this program
Linear methods, linear algebra, advanced introduction to computer science, programming with data, introduction to statistical enquiry, discrete mathematics, numbers and proofs, introductory calculus, university calculus, and more. You'll be taken on a path to applying mathematical data (non-linear) onto real-world applications, including scientific applications, to accurately predict based on patterns and data.
Additionally, you will be taught how to apply math into computer science and computer programming and exploring how to use computers to accurately predict data as well (applications to science and statistics and patterns)
