Faculty of Science
Exploring what makes up our world, and what makes up us. Science is all about discovering the underlying principles and mechanisms that govern our universe and ourselves. It is a systematic and evidence-based pursuit of knowledge that seeks to unravel the mysteries of the natural world, using that to combat our world's most pressing environmental and societal challenges that challenge our identities.
Why choose science?
Nobody is born a scientist. That's why the faculty of science exists. We at the Faculty of Science are aware that receiving a top-notch education entails much more than simply attending classes. You will have numerous opportunities to get your hands dirty and your feet wet while you are a student here (literally) through hands on experiments as you get to experiment with new learning styles never seen before. The entire earth is your living laboratory, whether you're in a lab, a field, a stream or high on a mountain. Through our courses, you can learn about the world and what lies beyond while also gaining practical experience in the area of your choice. Many of our programmes include research projects and field schools where you can gather your data and see firsthand what it's like to operate in your area. With the help of our summer study programmes, you can focus on issues and issues that interest you. At the faculty of science, you're not just learning more about our world and our environment. You're able to take part in a mass research campaign at Calvin State University and collaborate with a team of intelligent and brilliant minds to tackle the world's most pressing questions by exploring new ways to apply our scientific knowledge to technology.
In such a depressing world filled with a constant battle between humans V.S nature, we can do one step towards benefiting our communities by exploring how we can apply scientific data to technology. Additionally, we can also explore how we can spark innovation, better understand our world through the scientific method, and most importantly, create a more educated generation where public decisions made reflect the well-being of our communities based on real, backed-up, scientific evidence.
Career opportunities
When you graduate from CSU with a degree in the faculty of science, you will be prepared for many exciting and impactful careers in your professional life. Science graduates are better equipped to succeed in fields such as healthcare, biotechnology, environmental science, and many others because of scientific theories, data analysis, and for an increased understanding of critical thinking. Additionally, working with your professional career will allow you to build on your prior problem-solving skills, and better understand how to apply your skills to solve real-world issues. Whether you're interested in going deep into fields like medicine, engineering, or biotechnology, or you're looking to start your career right after graduation, getting a science degree has at Calvin State University will give you the tools and knowledge you need in order to succeed.
Courses in this program
Biology of Cells, Principles of Genetics, Principles of Ecology, Principles of Biochemistry, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Organic Chemistry, Physics for Scientists and Engineers, and more. These courses will give you a strong foundation in the basic principles of scientific inquiry, the structure and function of living systems, and the physical laws that govern our universe.
You will first begin by understanding how we can apply the scientific method into trial and error, and draw conclusions backed up by evidence that you and your team has gathered. Additionally, you'll learn how to collaborate as a team with diverse and brilliant minds at CSU which will develop your communication and teamwork skills.
