Why choose social studies?
Social studies enable us to ask questions about our world, and our environment. They enable us to question our worldviews, how they're shaped over the past decades, and how worldviews can clash- resulting in deadly consequences as seen in the history of the world. Social studies, or social science, is a composition of various different studies including geography, history, political science, and culture which enables us to not only learn more about ourselves, but other cultures and to gain a better grasp on other worldviews and religions.
Are you passionate about creating a lasting difference? Are you passionate about advocation, and fighting for our civil rights? Social studies aims to address issues in our society. Social study courses at CSU (Calvin State University) will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the world around them by exposing them to the various studies of history, geography, economics, politics, and other related fields. Through these courses, students will gain knowledge about the past, and how that shaped the present, and how our present will shape the future of our society. Moreover, this will also expose students to the issues revolving around diversity, inclusion, and equity to better foster students by exposing students to the different perspectives and experiences of people of different cultures and backgrounds and how we can address these problems and create a lasting impact on our future generations here in Canada.
