SOUTHERN UTAH DIVISION
Activities in the Southern Utah division were a little more prominent than normal for this time of the year. In September, we held our annual barbeque which is normally held in June. As usual, the ladies did a spectacular job of organizing the event and the food was great.
Our guest speaker for this lash-up was Chris Beckstead, a representative from the City of Saint George who will oversee the operation of the train at the All Abilities Park. He brought us up to date on the status of the park and the train. The park is scheduled to open after the first of the year and training was done in September for some of the volunteer engineers. A number of local modelers have expressed interest in driving the train when the park opens. I for one, will be first in line!
Our N scale club (Color Country T-Trak Club) continues to be very active in showing their ever growing T-Trak layout. The layout was on display at the 2015 Peach Days Festival in Hurricane, Utah and according to the club president, Scott Jesienouski, they had people viewing the layout from the time of setup until tear down and were able to recruit a few prospective members. This year, they attached a camera to a well-car in front of one of the locomotives and filmed a ride-along video of the layout. Those wanting to view the video can do so by going to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXLvkwvSzVc.
The local G scale modelers volunteered to build the layout this year to be auctioned off at the 2015 Jubilee of Trees. It appears this has become an annual event for local modelers to assist the hospital in their fund raising efforts.
