SILVER SAN JUAN DIVISION
The Silver San Juan Division held it’s annual business meeting on September 26, 2015. Elections for 2016 were held with Martin Pirnat re-elected Superintendent, Chris Kilgore re-elected as Secretary-Treasurer, and Directors Doug Rabick and Ray Schmudde returned to office. The Division is still searching for a full time publisher for the Flyer. In other business a revision of the Division Bylaws was approved which will allow more business to be conducted over the internet, given the large geographic size of our boundaries. The Superintendent was again asked to take the request for distribution of National monies on a per member basis to the RMR Board meeting in October.
The Fall Public Recruiting and Promotion Event of the Division was held on September 26, 2015 in Durango, CO. Beginning with open social time and swap session, we had the pleasure of several excellent clinicians. Tom Artzberger from Pagosa Springs spoke on 3D printing as it pertains to model railroading, giving an introduction to the concepts, hardware, and software used. Rather than just a Power Point presentation, Tom brought his iMac and printer to Durango, and printed a pawl wheel in G scale as a part of his clinic. Then Doug Geiger, MMR from Longmont spoke on “Tools, Tools, Tools” with many tools, tips and hints on using the various tools in model railroading. Many of these techniques are form outside the model railroading hobby. Doug and Barbara Geiger also presented an excellent clinic on “Steam Railroads in China from their trip some years ago.
The Spring Public event will be held on April 2, 2016 in Farmington, NM at the Farmington Museum.
