SMOKE AND STEAM IN 2015
Smoke & Steam in 2015 is now just over a month away! If you haven't already registered, now's the time - activities are filling up fast!
Thursday, June 4th, we'll offer a bus tour of the Greeley Freight Station Museum and the Cheyenne Depot Museum. This will include a tour of the UP Steam Shops and a peek at the restoration of UP4014! Both of these museums have excellent model railroads as well, making a thoroughly enjoyable day of model railroading, railfanning, and comradeship as we tour some great facilities.
Operating sessions are scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 2nd & 3rd, at some of the best layouts in the Denver area, including those of Doug Geiger, John Parker, Don Meeker, Pete Doty and more!
Friday, June 5th starts with 3 rounds of clinics, featuring some of the Rocky Mountain Region's best modelers and clinicians - Rodney Black, Gerry Clancy, Doug Geiger, and Gary Myers and many more. On Friday, the Train Show will be open, too, plus railfanning opportunities, time for the family, layout tours in the afternoon, and yet more clinics that evening!
Saturday morning, June 6th, more great clinics, the model contest, and the Train Show continues. In the afternoon, layout tours and time on your own to explore the railroad world of Denver - the Forney Museum, the Colorado Railroad Museum, the Joint Line and more.
Attendees for Saturday evening's banquet will be not only be treated fabulous dinner but a very special presentation by Ed Dickens, Jr. - Senior Manager, Heritage Operations and Steam Shop for Union Pacific.
Sunday morning June 6th, sadly, the convention wraps, but not until after the traditional Hobo Breakfast and awards presentation.
