SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
from the President
ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM
I would like to thank Jim Laird for his time as our Achievement Program Chair. Unfortunately, Jim has relinquished his duties because of family responsibilities that has required most of his time. We appreciate the work Jim has performed and the help he has provided. The best to Jim and his family, and hope to see him around when he has the time.
The Board has approved John Griffith, recently a Region Director, to assume the AP Chair position. Welcome John, thank you for volunteering your time for these important responsibilities. John can be reached at rxr.roddin@yahoo.com.
And congratulations to our latest Achievers:
Golden Spike Certificate awarded to:
Robert Allen, Fountain, CO
Tera Allen, Fountain, CO
Anthony Powlicki, Woodland Park, CO
EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
Congratulations to David Merrill, who has recently been approved by the Board as Chair of our newly established Education Department. This department was created to support the new EduTrain program initiated by the NMRA to provide a standardized, professional format of clinics throughout the NMRA. David is a long time professional educator, with much experience and university resources at hand. David will chair the review committee of Region Clinics submitted to the EduTrain program, as well as continue the Clinic Roundhouse program begun at the 2013 Division Xchange clinic at Albuquerque.
Each Division’s Program Chair will be expected to coordinate with David, as well as interested participants, to help coordinate a Clinic Roundhouse program in the Region and help volunteer on the EduTrain review committee. If you are interested David’s e-mail address is: atsgrr@gmail.com.
YOUTH CHAIR/formerly Scouting Coordinator
We would like to thank Blaine Bachman, who has completed his service as our Boy Scout Coordinator. Unfortunately, our Region has been deficient with Scouting and Youth programs, where we have only a few Divisions active in this endeavor. Blaine has suggested that we place the Scouting Coordinator position under the auspices of a Youth Chair, and generalize the program. I agree that this would be an improvement, and we now look forward to a volunteer to fill this new position.
In this position, we are looking for someone who has an interest in establishing some helpful guidelines to Divisions in providing programs to our youths, as well as helping coordinate youth programs across the Region.
VA HOSPITAL - Sheridan, Wyoming
Harold Huber has initiated a model railroading group at his local VA Hospital, and has asked us for help. If you can spare some HO model railroad equipment odds and ends, the veterans at the hospital are building a model railroad and need just about anything you can imagine.
