SILVER SAN JUAN DIVISION
The Silver San Juan Division held it’s Spring promotion and recruitment event on April 4, 2015 at the Farmington Museum in Farmington, NM.
There was an excellent program starting with Ron Nott discussing railroads in the Farmington area, a previously unknown video, shown by Museum Director Bart Wilsey, on the last run for the Farmington branch. The quality of the video, taken from old film donated to the museum was excellent for it’s age. Jerry Hoffer from the Durango Railroad Historical Society gave a photographic presentation on the Society’s activities including the restoration of newly obtained rolling stock.
Modeling interests were not ignored as the afternoon program began with Joe Lemmo’s clinic on making trees. Rod Guggenheim presented his clinic on the Rio Grande Southern that originally was seen at the National Narrow Gauge Convention. The day concluded with “From the Workbench” with the audience presenting their current work activities and interests. Currently, there are no additional division activities planned till the Fall promotion event in Durango.
