Dr. Charles Xiaoxue Wang is a Professor of Educational Technology at the College of Education and a Lucas Faculty Fellow (2020-2022) at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). Dr. Wang has served as Associate Dean for the College of Education (7, 2013 - 8, 2018). He has taught at the Intensive Language Training Center of Sichuan University, Chengdu, China and in the College of Education at Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
Dr. Wang has earned his BA degree in English Language and Literature from Southwest University in China, an M.Ed. degree in Teaching English to the Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from University of Manchester in UK and a Ph.D. degree in Instructional Systems from Pennsylvania State University in the USA.
As an educator, he works hard to fulfill his personal professional mission as follows:

Dr. Wang's research interests include design and development of online learning environments, Multi-User Virtual Environments (MUVEs), synchronous technology for distance learning and collaboration. Dr. Wang has served on the Executive Committee of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) (2019-2020) and on the Board of AECT Directors representing International Division (2017-2022). He is a Past President (2010-2011), and current board member of AECT International Division, a Past Director of Research and Public Relations (2006-2010), and a board member (2015-2017) for the Society of International Chinese in Educational Technology(SICET). He also serves as the assistant editor for the Journal of Formative Design in Learning, the editor in chief for the International Journal of Virtual Technology and Multimedia, and guest editor for a special issue of Virtual Reality to Support Learning at International Journal of Smart Technology and Learning.
In addition, Dr. Wang, proudly worked with Friends of Foster Children Forever, a local non-profitable organization that assist nearly 1000 foster children at Southwest Florida, as its Educational Advisor.
