THE MARCHING BULLDOGS

The Butler High School "Marching Bulldogs" is an extension of the classroom curriculum. Concepts, techniques, and other items taught in regular academic classes will be reinforced in the marching band. The Marching Band is considered the most visible and most involved ensemble that a band program offers. A student MUST BE signed up for a concert band class (the only exception is for color guard members and the occasional orchestra student) in order to participate in the Marching Band. Marching band students can sign up for the marching band class for credit or no credit. Whether they receive credit for the marching band class or not, all students will be assigned a grade based on their attendance, appearance, and performance. Students in the marching band will be REQUIRED to attend ALL scheduled rehearsals and events such as summer practices, pre-camp rehearsals, band camp, regular season rehearsals, football games, parades, and marching competitions.

Our 2024 show brings Roman mythology and classical music together in a fun production that showcases the "personalities" of the planets in our solar system as described by the Romans, and pays tribute to the Gustav Holst suite "The Planets"

The 2022-2023 Marching Bulldogs were invited to represent CMS and the State of North Carolina at the 2023 National Memorial Day Parade in Washington D.C. The Band was featured on WBTV to highlight their accomplishment along with the parade being live-streamed nationally on PBS and YouTube.
