VEGETATED GABION WALL

Vegetated Gabion Walls are an effective mechanism for stabilizing shoreline erosion in ecosystems with high wave velocity and flood potential. Gabion walls can be constructed quickly, but are complex in nature, potentially requiring a contractor or serious landscaping experience.

Overview:

  1. Remove topsoil and create a level, compact base for your wall

  2. Install support beams and mesh panelled wire baskets

  3. Fill gabion baskets with indigenous rocks.

  4. Allow time for vegetation to grow within rocks or plant flood resistant plants within baskets.
