NO MOW ZONE

A No Mow Zone is a common practice being implemented around Burlington to help reduce erosion and runoff into our waterways. It is one of the easiest ways to improve your property's watershed impact and will help to increase biodiversity in our community.

Overview:

  1. Stop Mowing along your shoreline, extending the zone beyond the slope of the shoreline to promote stabilization and erosion prevention.

  2. Selectively remove invasive plant species.

Plant native shoreline species.

Note: The City of Burlington just passed a zoning amendment on April 26th, 2021 that will change the language of the term “no-mow zone” to “low mo-zone”. For more information, click here39 (Page 5, Section 2.4).
