University of Maryland
1. The School of Music had Clarice Assad in residence for the semester. She taught an improvisation and composition class, and worked with ensembles throughout the school.
The wind orchestra performed her "Multiverse" paired with Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" (performed by the orchestra) in November.
2. The Wind Orchestra also performed concerts for the International Quantum Congress in November.
3. We hosted Michael Gilbertson and performed his "Land's End" in October.
4. The Wind Orchestra will be a featured ensemble at the 10th International Conference on Music and Minimalism in May, performing John Adams' "Grand Pianola Music" Frederic Rzewski's "Moutons de Panurge" and a new work by Danny Clay with guest artists The Living Earth Show.
5. We had a very successful third annual high school honor band in December, and will be hosting our fourth Music for All festival in April.
