B. Gianan Poultry Supply is a small-scale retail business engaged in the sale of poultry feeds, supplies, and related agricultural products. The store primarily caters to local poultry raisers and small livestock farmers, providing essential goods that support daily poultry operations. As a community-based enterprise, the store plays an important role in meeting the agricultural needs of its customers through consistent product availability and direct customer service.
The business is owned and managed by a hands-on proprietor who is directly involved in day-to-day operations, including inventory monitoring, purchasing, and sales transactions. At present, the store relies on a manual inventory management system, where stock levels are tracked through physical counting and written or spreadsheet-based records. While this method has supported the store’s operations over time, it has become increasingly challenging as product variety and transaction volume grow.
The owner recognizes the importance of accurate inventory control in preventing stock shortages, overstocking, and financial discrepancies. These operational challenges highlight the need for a more efficient and reliable system. As such, B. Gianan Poultry Supply was selected as the subject of this study to explore how a digitized inventory management system using COBOL can enhance operational efficiency, improve inventory accuracy, and strengthen data security while remaining suitable for a small business setting.

The images document the actual system trial conducted with selected respondents as part of the system evaluation process. During this activity, the respondents were given the opportunity to interact directly with the developed system by performing predefined tasks and navigating its core functionalities. The researchers facilitated the session by providing instructions, observing user behavior, and answering clarification questions when necessary.
The purpose of this activity was to assess the system’s usability, functionality, and overall effectiveness in a real-user environment. Respondents’ interactions, responses, and feedback were carefully observed and recorded to identify potential issues, measure user satisfaction, and determine areas for improvement. The data gathered from this system try-out contributed significantly to the validation of the system’s design and performance.
