Our Catholic Daughters are deeply involved in the community of prayer alive at St. John the Baptist. In conjunction with the SJB Knights of Columbus, CDA Court #2079 sponsors a 12-hour Eucharistic Adoration on the Friday that precedes the first Saturday of the month. Members and parishioners sign up for one hour of prayer between the hours of 8pm and 8am. Interestingly, participants have found that their hour seems to be getting shorter. Just a hallmark of the richness that begins to occur when all distractions of our busy world melt away as we pray and reflect on the gift of Jesus’ shared body.

The Catholic Daughters have a special devotion to Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Monthly meetings are opened or closed with Marian prayers and roses are left at the feet of Mary during our Quarterly Communions. The scriptural rosary is led by our Court at all members’ and immediate family members’ wakes. During the 40 days of diocesan prayer, the rosary is prayed outside the local abortion clinic.

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
